Bond was placed on the <br />pay. roll as a. Street Worker at $100.00 per month. <br /> <br /> A protest 'petition was filed to the paving of 19th Avenue from LincoLn to <br />Lawrence Streets and Lawrence Street from k9th tc Z2nd Avenues. Such petition <br />was r ef~rred to the Street Comities for report in connection with. the petltior <br />already referred to pave such streets. <br /> <br /> A petition was filed to.construet a sewer between let and 2rid Avenues from <br />Polk Street sewer to City Limits. Such petition was referred to the Sewer <br />Committee. The sewer Committee reported'.recommending such petition be granted. <br />On motion the report of such committee was adopted. <br /> <br /> ' The City Attorney reported on the bill of E.S. Rolfe for $43.06 as the <br />amount he paid as costs in the case of Flourney vs. the City of EUgene And <br />recommended the city pay One half of such bill. On motion such report was <br />adopt ed. <br /> <br /> A blll was presented from the Engineer's office for $20.00 payable to <br />Nellie Elliottfor blue printing. Such matter was discussed and denied on <br />account .of her being on the regular payroll as an employee of the City. The <br />quest ion of her salary and the propriety of giving her a raise was presented, <br />and discussed, and it was voted to pay her $100.00 per month starting April <br />1, 1926. <br /> <br /> The question of oar-fare by certain employees of the Fngineer~s office <br />we~ presented by the ~lnance Committee and ~iscussed. It was moved and <br />carried .the Fln~ce Committee go. over the question of car fare bills with the <br />Engineer to see if a system cannot be worked out to lmperve the present system <br />of allowing car fare. The Street Committee also asked that the Finance <br />Committee or the Reoorder~s office.see that proper credit is given the city <br />for all motor vehicle bills. <br /> <br /> The City Engineer reported work would start at once on paving 19th Avenue <br />from Willamette to Hilyard.Streets. }{e also reported the street would be im- <br />proved at 22nd and Columbia Street by constructing a.5 ft. walk and a 5 ft. curb. <br /> <br /> The Recorder was instructed to write Mrs. Scarbrough informing her the <br />Council denies her claim for damages here refers presented as to her garage. <br /> <br /> On motion the bill of Koke Tiffany for $18.25 for a book for the water <br />board was ordered Raid. <br /> <br /> The Recorder was instructed to present a bill t~ the Central Heating <br />Pl~nt for t}{e amount of repairs to the pipe line back of the Peter Pan caused <br />by its fault or negligence. <br /> <br /> An Ordinance levying asse. ssments for Paving the alley between Willamette <br />and Olive Streets from llth to 13th Aves. was. read the .first time and laid <br />over. <br /> <br />One sidewalk assessment ordinance was read the first time and lald over. <br /> <br /> .ElEven sldewalk assessment ordinances having been read the first time <br />March 8,1926, and registered notice given and all Protests over ruled, they <br />passed their second and third readings by title by unanimous consent under <br />suspension of the rule and was placed o~ their final passage. The ayes and <br />nays were called, all pre~ent voting aye. Nay none. The Ordinances .were de- <br />clared passed and numbered from 5277 to 5287, numbers beth inclusive. <br /> <br /> An Ordinance levying assessments for paving Van ~uren Street from Railroad <br />Avenue te Blair Blvd. having been read the first time March 29th, 1926, and · <br />registered notice given and all protests ove~ ruled it passed its second and <br />third readings by title by unanimous consent' under suspension of the rule' ahd <br />was placed on its final passage.
