Natural land features, waterways, and native vegetation provide <br />distinctive and easily i d e n t i f i a b l e components to the metropolitan <br />area environment . <br />5, The metropolitan area presently offers a variety of naturally <br />distinctive topographic features, waterways, and vegetation that <br />are both visually and personally accessible to residents. <br />6. Ri dgel i nes and water areas provide the greatest concentration of <br />scenic sites in the metropolitan area. <br />7. Landscaping with trees and other vegetation prov.i des a. pleasant, <br />distinctive, and permanent atmosphere for the metropo l i t -an area. <br />8. The use of buffer strips and other design features can minimize <br />the negative env ironmental impact of certain uses, such as road- <br />ways and parki areas, wh 1 e protecting adjacent 1 and uses <br />9.
