The <br />City of Eugene has adopted pedestrian recommendations for the <br />city. <br />17. Current levels of local , state, and federal funding are inadequate <br />to meet the surface transportation needs forecasted for 2000. <br />18. Mahlon Sweet Field is the major airport providing commercial <br />passenger, cargo, mail, and general aviation services to the <br />metropol i tan area. This airport also provides major services <br />to Lane County residents outside the metropolitan area, <br />19, Some of the general (private) aviation needs ' of metropolitan <br />residents are met by smaller airfields (Creswell, Cottage Grove, <br />Cob -urg, Crow -Mag, Daniels, and Walker) within driving distance <br />of the metropolitan area, <br />20. The Mahlon Sweet Field Master Plan contains recommendations for <br />future improvements in-the facilities and services at Mahlon <br />Sweet Field. <br />21. Mahlon Sweet Field represents a major public investment in terms <br />of the replacement value of the airport facilities land and improve- <br />- ment value of approximately $30 million in January 1980. The airport <br />also contributes sub st ant al l y to t -he economy of the metropo l "tan <br />area-, <br />22. In addition to the General Plan and the Mahlon Sweet Field Master <br />Plan, Land County's Wi l l amette- -Long Tom Subarea Plan affects the <br />land uses within the airport environs (within approximately five <br />miles of the airport proper) . <br />23. Land uses in the vicinity of Mahlon Sweet Field would be rural <br />if the airport did not influence l and use decisions, <br />24. Mahlon Sweet Field is essentially a self- contained facility in <br />terms of urban services, such as water, police and fire pro- <br />tection, and sewer% <br />26. With the exception of the airport proper and those portions of <br />the-City of Eugene that . are within the airport environs, the <br />airport environs. are not served by an urban level of services. <br />26. There are adequate commercial and industrial land's within the <br />urban service area (within short travel time) and on-airport <br />property . to serve 'the l oc at Tonal requirements of .most airport - <br />related development. <br />III -F -3 <br />
