(5) Delta Ponds. Develop the Delta Ponds as a major recreational area and corridor <br />including a variety of recreational and educational opportunities. (Policy 1) <br />(6) Amazon Channel. <br />(a) Develop the channel as a major recreational corridor by providing a variety <br />of recreational facilities along its length. (Policy 1) <br />(b) Provide access to the channel from adjacent neighborhoods. (Policy 3) <br />(c) Where channel street crossings are absent, install foot bridges that are <br />sensitive to wildlife for convenient access to recreational areas. (Policy 4) <br />(d) Improve the safety and aesthetic quality of the channel corridor to <br />encourage its use and contribute to its beautification. (Policy 3) <br />9.9560 Eugene-Springfield Metro olitan Area General Plan (Metro Plan . <br />(1) Land Divisions in Campus Industrial Designated Area, A 50 -acre minimum <br />lot size shall be applied to ownerships of 50 or more acres to protect <br />undeveloped sites from piecemeal development until a site development plan <br />has been approved by the responsible city. (Plan Diagram, page II -E-8) <br />(2) Land Divisions in Special Heavy Industrial Designated Area. Land <br />divisions in these areas shall be controlled to protect large parcels (40 acres <br />m n i m um parcel size). (Plan Diagram, page II -E-8) <br />(3) Land Divaions in North of Awbrey Lane Area. The parcel size for <br />lots in the industrial park shall be 40 acres. ("Plan Diagram, page II -E -9) <br />(4) Environmental Resources Element. <br />(a) Local governments shall require site- specific soil surveys and geologic <br />studies where potential problems exist. When problems are identified, <br />local governments shall require special design consideration and <br />construction measures to be taken to offset the soil and geologic <br />constraints present, to protect life and property, public investments, and <br />environmentally - sensitive areas. (Policy 4, page III -C -7.) <br />(b) Local governments shall protect endangered and threatened plant and <br />wildlife species, as recognized on a legally adopted statewide list, after <br />notice and opportunity for public input. (Policy 28, page III -C -11) <br />(5) Environmental Design Element. Natural vegetation, natural water features, <br />and drainageways shall be protected and retained to the maximum extent <br />practicable, considering the economic, social, environmental, and energy <br />consequences in the design and construction of urban developments. <br />Landscaping shall be utilized to enhance distinctive natural features.
