(g) Encourage the installation of bus shelters, especially near areas with <br />concentrations of senior citizens or where there is high transit usage and <br />limited opportunities for shelter during bad weather. (Policy 10) <br />(h) Provide adequate pedestrian facilities for crossing of arterial streets at their <br />points of greatest demand. (Policy 13) <br />(i) Continue to install sidewalk access ramps at intersections within the <br />Whiteaker area. (Policy 14) <br />(j) Retain alleys and encourage their appropriate use as important elements of <br />the transportation network. (Policy 6) <br />9.9700 Willakenzie Area Plan Policies <br />(1) Land Use Element - General Policies. <br />(a) The City shall use the Land Use Diagram and accompanying text and <br />policies of the Willakenzie Refinement Plan, as well as other applicable <br />City goals, policies, and plans, to provide policy direction for public <br />decisions affecting the plan area. (Policy 1) <br />(b) The City shall ensure that future commercial development and <br />redevelopment in the Willakenzie planning area is sensitive to and <br />compatible with existing and planned development in the surrounding <br />area. (Policy 2) <br />(c) Retain existing significant vegetation whenever possible to provide <br />buffering between residential and nonresidential uses, as well as between <br />low- density and higher density residential areas. (Policy 3) <br />(d) Recognize Coburg Road, the Ferry Street Bridge, Beltline Road, Delta. <br />Highway, Interstate 5, and the Eugene - Springfield Highway (I -105) as <br />designated entrance corridors to the city as identified in the adopted City <br />of Eugene Entrance Beautification Study.
