City of Eugene <br />Human Resources <br />Education Aid Procedure <br />Education Aid Procedure <br />Education Aid may be available for employees who complete academic, vocational, or <br />adult education courses to acquire additional skills and knowledge directly related to <br />their current job and /or assist them to advance or transfer to another position within the <br />organization. The guidelines and process for Educational Aide eligibility, limitation and <br />reimbursements are listed below. <br />Eligibility <br />The City will reimburse tuition costs of full and part -time regular employees who are off <br />initial probation and have successfully completed one year of service with the City. At <br />the City's initiation, an employee with less than one year's service (whether on <br />probation or not) may get tuition reimbursement if it is determined that the employee <br />needs a course to enhance their skills. Before enrolling in the course, the employee <br />must have the approval of their immediate supervisor and the Department Executive on <br />the "Request for Educational Aid" form (obtained from Human Resources). No <br />applications for educational assistance will be accepted after classes for the course <br />have started. <br />Course / Credit Limitations <br />An employee may apply for reimbursement for up to two classes per term /quarter for <br />undergraduate work or one class of graduate level work per term /quarter. <br />Reimbursement Guidelines <br />Departments are primarily responsible for the administration of educational funds. Each <br />department should set aside funds to be used for educational aid within their travel and <br />training budget. The amount of assistance received is determined by availability of <br />budgeted funds.
