Eligibility <br />A. Regular full- or part-time employees who have completed their probationary periods. If an <br />employee is in secondary probation, they must check with their supervisor before considering <br />application for an assignment. <br />B. Employees must be performing at a satisfactory level in their current positions. <br />C. An employee may participate in only one career development assignment at a time. <br />D. Normally, an employee may complete only one career development assignment every 18 <br />months. <br />E. Exceptions may be made if: <br />F. No other employee applies or meets minimum requirements for the next career development <br />assignment. <br />G. The executive director of the home department approves the additional career development <br />assignment. <br />Posting <br />Career development assignments may be posted city -wide or within a department. The decision to post <br />an assignment is made by the hiring department or division. <br />Pay <br />Employees remain at their current pay levels during a career development assignment. In most <br />instances, the department receiving the employee pays his/her salary and the home department <br />continues to pay the benefits. <br />Application Process <br />To be considered for a career development assignment, an employee must submit the following: <br />• City of Eugene Career Development application form with supervisor signature <br />• City of Eugene employment application <br />• Supplemental Questionnaire (if required) <br />• Career Development Plan (if on file) <br />• Letter and /or resume with supplemental information relevant to the assignment <br />A Career Development Plan that includes clearly stated career goals may enhance an employees' <br />competitiveness for a career development assignment.
