B) Minor tranquilizers (Benzodiazepines) <br />1) Used to relieve tension and promote sleep. User becomes sedated <br />2) Side effects are: Apathy'— low blood pressure — fainting — chills — rashes <br />blurred vision — slurred speech <br />3) Tolerance and dependence <br />i. Rapidly increasing tolerance — high potential for cross tolerance to other drugs <br />ii. High physical and psychological potential for addiction <br />2) Withdrawal symptoms are severe: anxiety — muscle twitch — <br />headaches — insomnia <br />i. Without medical supervision, withdrawal can be life - threatening <br />ii.
