Goal(s) Create Triple Bottom Line assessment tools and methods that <br /> <br /> <br />can be used by participating government agencies to help them <br />achieve desired outcomes, including the outcomes that are <br />among the goals of the HUD grant program. <br />Tools will include aspects of cost effectiveness, which will allow <br /> <br /> <br />local and regional governments to deploy their resources most <br />effectively to achieve environmental, economic, and social <br />equity goals. <br />Creation of additional shared elements in regional <br /> <br /> <br />transportation, housing, water, and air quality plans tied to <br />local comprehensive land use and capital investment plans <br />(HUD Long-term Outcome). <br />Improved integration of sustainability components within <br /> <br /> <br />planning policies and processes. <br /> Activities Introductory Triple Bottom Line Solution Summit for transportation <br />investments (separately funded), Research and evaluation of <br />existing triple bottom line assessment tools, including the <br />Sustainable Transportation Analysis and Rating System for <br />transportation projects (STARS-Project) and local and regional <br />transportation plans (STARS-Plan). Based on this preliminary effort, <br />(1) use for policy, process and capital projects; presentation to <br />Consortium; development of preferred tool develop framework <br />and methods for evaluating policy and capital projects; (2) present <br />the framework and methods to staff and officials of interested <br />Consortium members; (3) refine triple bottom line assessment <br />tools based on related research activities; and (4) develop training <br />tools; conduct training. <br /> Public Info/Invo Provide opportunities for public review and comment, <br />presentations and discussions with key policy stakeholders <br /> Products Research findings and preliminary recommendations <br /> <br /> <br />Draft Triple Bottom Line Tools for transportation investments <br /> <br /> <br />Final Triple Bottom Line Tools for transportation investments, <br /> <br /> <br />Triple Bottom Line assessment methods for other public <br /> <br /> <br />investments and programs, based on priorities set by the <br />Leadership and Project Management Team <br />Documentation of clear and practical methods for evaluating <br /> <br /> <br />the complex trade-offs with the principles of triple-bottom line <br />evaluation. <br />Engagement and education of technical staff and managers at <br /> <br /> <br />local governments and agencies with responsibilities for the <br />planning, construction and operation of local and regional <br />public facilities and services, in order to allow them to use triple <br />bottom line assessment methods and tools in their decision <br />making and advice to decision makers. <br /> User’s Guide, including instructions, data needs, training tools <br /> <br /> <br />Lane Livability Consortium 17 <br />
