Attachment E: Text responses from retailer plastic bag ban survey
As a citizen I feel the city could spend time better than policing use of bags. Education is a better option. Our
organization supports a ban, personally I feel it is a flash in the pan, we face many more pressing issues to
address first.
I think the bag ban is a bad idea. Most of our customers don't use them, but when needed, they are more
convenient and they make more sense than paper or a box that will get thrown out. We recycle all our
shipping boxes. Most people reuse their bags as trash bags
I believe most of the bags in the landfills are from waste basket lineing, not throwing out. If the free store bags
are banned people will have to buy Hefty plastic bags for waste baskets, what's the diff other than cost?
This survey suffers a huge sampling error. It is not a true survey. Use of the information collected is extremely
biased due to the sampling error. Use of biased information to make law is wrong.
AGAIN, THE PRODUCT I SELL IS RUINED BY RAIN, SO I NEED TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE PLASTIC
BAGS WHEN IN RAINS. OR IS IT THAT YOU THINK EVERYONE BUYS THEIR BOOKS AT AMAZON?? IS
THAT WHAT YOU WANT??
Just ban them like other cities have done. They are bad for the environmental and difficult to recycle.
Our customers went right along with this when we quit offering the plastic bags. It lines up with what most of
them want.
Our store is in Springfield but want our voice heard!
