Attachment D: Text responses from consumer plastic bag ban survey
Sometimes my purchases exceed capacity of my reuseable bags.
I reuse plastic bags for a myriad of second and third purposes.
they need to be washed to keep food clean
Convenience and personal choice
The juice from packages of raw chicken and other meats leaks on the inside, impossible to clean
correctly.
i have more or larger items that can fit in my bags
If I have them, I reuse them
Always use reusable bags
make an unexpected trip
If I am only buying a couple I things I just carry them.
This format DID NOT allow me to check all that apply!
We use plastic bags to line our trash cans under the sink and in the bathrooms
They give me a plastic bag before I can show that I have my backpack or that I can carry the
items myself.
Don't usually need them.
Didn't take bag because I didn't intend to shop.
Opportunistic shopping while out and about - not prepared with bags
Have used up what I brought along that day or my purchases exceed the size of my bags.
I forget to bring a bag with me. They are difficult to clean, If the reusable bag is soiled by a
bacterial friendly substance they are really impossible to clean.
Only forgetting to take the bag with me
It's not required. I'd use them if it was the policy.
can't be certain that a reusable bag is free of contaminants just from laying around in my house -
might get sick
Mine usually come to me free.
I used to be able to get really high-quality bags in maryland (these have lasted 30-plus years.)
Most of the reusable bags available now are just flimsy and/or hard to clean.
i use the bags for dog poo pickup
I re-use bags for garbage
on ocasion I forget to take one in with me ?Usally I do with out when that happens
i want to use the plastic bags provided
I like getting bags to reuse at home.
i reuse them for home rubbish bags
I use the paper bags for trash can liners
Sometimes I WANT at shirt type bag so I can take it home to REUSE!
I am not (yet!) in the habit of always using re-usables for non-grocery trips like hardware and
clothing stores
once in a while I realize I don't have my reusable bag and I feel badly that I might get a plastic
bag. This is rare however.
I prefer plastic or paper bags. I will not use reusable bags.
The life cycle assessments of most bags are worse than typical plastic bags.
I put meat in a separate bag. Sometimes I buy more than my bags can hold.
I keep about 10 reusable bags in my car. When I unload my groceries, I hang them on my
doorknob to take out to my car. I never use plastic bags and when I see other people use them, I
have to refrain from saying something.
I like the plastic bags because they are convenient. We reuse or recycle them.
Plastic bags are much easier to use.
Really all of the above here (except "nothing")
