Attachment D: Text responses from consumer plastic bag ban survey
I reuse and wash until they are too dirty or worn to use, then I recycle.
Recycle bin
Use as personal garbage bags to save money.
city library
You can't technically "recycle" those bags
did not let me check more than one
try it yourself. see if you can select more than one!!!
Nextstep recycling
it doesnt let me select all that apply
Apartment recycling location
I reuse them for my trash can. I would just have to buy plastic bags for the trash can if I didn't
have the ones from the store.
At any grocery store, but we usually reuse them till they break
library
See answer above
But first I reuse/repurpose them again and again.
At work
what is IP plastic bag collection site pls?
I use them around the home/car (ex: small trash cans)
Question 7: Do you think more recycling options are needed for single-use plastic
carryout bags?
I think they need to be eliminated instead. They are polluting our landfills & oceans & endangering
marine life. Tons of plastic is given out daily in our markets!
It would be ideal if we could put them in with co-mingled recycling
I would prefer there not be singl-use plastic carryout bags. Everytime I see them in the grocery
store it makes me ill and I always hope that more people are using their own reusable bags for
their purchases.
we need more locations to collect used plastic bags for recycling
they need not be used at all
It would be better to discourage the use of single-use plastic bags altogether. Relatively few
options exist for recycling them currently because they are a difficult material to handle, with a
high occurrence of bags floating away or jamming sorting equipment. Simply encouraging
recycling will condone the continued use of these bags, and I think we need to do better.
Recycle centres are too far away for the common bicycle traveller and the grocery recycle bins
are often over loaded.
More facilities to drop off bags, such as drop boxes around town.
We already have enough options.
Recycling them doesn't resolve the problem; plastic bags are horrible for the environment. When
completely neccessary, yes, we need better recycling, and clearer instructions on how to recycle
not only plastic bags but everything that can be made into a new product.
Would encourage plastic bag recycling to become a habit.

It would be nice if they could add plastic bag recycling to the curbside recycling service in addition
to the grocery store recycle bins they all ready have now.

Another idea is to have those small cash payments for bringing in plastic bags for recycling like
with cans, and bottles.
Cut the use. Recycling plastic bags is a sham; not practical and not energy efficient.
I just think we should eliminate plastic bags. Most people won't get on the reusable bag wagon
until they have to.
