Attachment D: Text responses from consumer plastic bag ban survey
HAVE RECYCLE BINS AT BIMART, ETC.
a tricky question: 'yes' until fewer plastic bags are available in stores; then 'no' as the need for
them falls away.
Is it possible for local waste/garbage companies to also recycle the bags?
Single use plastic bags are a waste. It will be easier for people to quit using them if they aren't
available.
AND more reuse options need to be obvious
I want them to be banned. They are bad for the earth.
no, prefer to ban them.
The regular Sanipac recycling won't take bags. They should! Or at least advise us what to do with
them.
Most stores take them as do the recycling centers
would be much more convenient to recycle them with curbside recycling
Better to have option to recycle than to ban outright.
It would be great if waste haulers had an option for recycling these bags.
If I had bags to recycle, I would recycle them at my local grocery store.
Every store that gives them out should have a place to recycle them.
The so-called "single use" bag is used more than once by most of the people I know. However,
perhaps mandatory recycling would be better than banning the bags. Banning the bags seems
like a knee-jerk reaction to some feel good environmentalists who have not looked at the facts or
the science.
Not going to recycle unless it is easy.
No opinion, since I always reuse them and give them to the thrift shop to reuse.
Curbside collection would be nice.
It has to be as easy as getting stuck with one at the store to recycle them.
I do not know where to recycle my single use plastic carry out bags (and other plastic bags).
more drop off locations.
All major grocery and retail stores, and specifically all chain stores, such as Albertsons, Safeway,
Dairy Mart, Shopko, Target, Fred Meier, and Market of Choice should be obligated to recycle
these bags.
I think they should be phased out ASAP. Cut to the chase, don't waste time getting them out of
our lives!
I THINK WE SHOULD JUST OUTLAW THEM! THEY ARE TERRIBLE FOR THE
ENVIRONMENT, OFTEN ENDING UP IN THE OCEANS & KILLING WILDLIFE 9BECAUSE
THEY EAT THE BROKEN DOWN PLASTIC OR GET TANGLED UP IN THEM). BAN THE
PLASTIC ONE-USE BAG!!!!!!!
at every outlet that uses them
plastic or paper is enough
I don't think it makes sense to recycle single-use bags. I'd rather see a ban.
if they have to be clean this prevents dirty ones from being recycled; perhaps later on it won't
matter if they are clean or not
I have no trouble finding a place to recycle.
Don't know
I think we have too many of them & people don't recycle or dispose of them correctly. They also
don't break down naturally for a really long time.
They can be reused for trash bags.
More options may be discovered but are not NEEDED.
People don't use what is already available. They just throw them away.
