Attachment D: Text responses from consumer plastic bag ban survey
People in this city are already made well-aware of the various recycling options we have. We
don't need any more.
We throw them away because it's much work to bring them back and recycle them, especially
because we live out of town.
A more convenient way to recycle would be extremely useful. While I always try to recycle, it is
difficult when recyclable material builds up before I have time to take it in somewhere.
Need more collection points.
Apparently it is not energy efficient to recycle plastic bags and they are very energy consumptive
to create, so I support a ban on plastic bags, even tho I use them for garbage bags currently.
It's quite simple: use, and re-use your own bag; hence, no need to recycle anything!
curbside pickup with other recyclables
I find it unacceptable bags cannot be in recycling.
Easy to recycle at grocery store
Additionally, an education campaign about where to recycle plastic bags is necessary. I am
unaware of the options for recycling bags in Eugene. If possible, I think being able to recycle
bags in the curbside recycling programs would really help--making it as convenient as possible
will encourage recycling.
Simply get rid of them. It took me a bit of time to remember to bring my own bags, and if I can do
it, so can everyone else.
No, people haven't taken advantage of the options that we've tried in the past. Even if faced with
the facts about marine pollution and harm to animals, unless it harms us individually, people tend
to ignore. I approve of a ban.
I only have seen recycle stations at grocery stores.
I think people like myself often forget their bags and some others do not care. More public
information about ocean polution might help.I sometimes shop at Market of Choice(they do not
use plastic) and I seem to remember my bags.
I think that banning/restricting them is the only effective way of reducing the number that end up
as littler or in landfill.
Whatever will help reduce the waste of plastic in the environment is a positive step in the right
direction.
I need education. I don't know how to recycle these. As far as I know they aren't recyclable at
curbside. Since I don't have a car, forget about me recycling anything non-recyclable at curbside.
More options are needed only if the measure fails.
If measure fails, yes.
Stop invading our freedoms - nto more regulations or rules.
If they were made a little better they would be used more often.
They are already convienent at many stores, but people still do not recycle them. There is no
reason to use single use plastic bags. Or single use anything for that matter.
Plenty of people will not recycle until it is easier than putting the thing in the garbage.
I didn't know there were any, I just keep any I get at my home for reuse. If there were more
obvious ways of recycling them then I would use those.
It's currently not feasible to recycle bags. Very few are actually recycled.
they should be banned
