Attachment D: Text responses from consumer plastic bag ban survey
If Lane Co. was seriously concerned about recycling, they wouldn't have allowed Sanipac to stop
picking up recyclables in some area after Sanipac was bought out by another company.

First Sanipac stopped picking up glass, now they won't pick up ANY recyclables from my mother's
neighborhood, which is the Blossom St. area off Seavey Loop.

Why should I be concerned about a few plastic bags if Lane Co. doesn't care about about tons of
recyclables unnecessarily going into the landfill?

This newest refusal to pick up recyclables is very recent, about May of 2012, and my mom is
pissed but has had no luck talking to her District representative or congressman.
Ultimately they need to be completely eliminated.
I feel that people who recycle their bags make the commitment to recycle them, and will take them
where they need to go. I believe more recycling stations is not a significant motivator for people to
recycle their bags. It takes the commitment at home not to put them in the garbage.
I would love it if Sanipac would pick them up with my curbside comingled recycling.
For those that are using them for shopping.
I have no idea where to recycle them. I don't get many, and I reuse them to line the diaper pail or
bathroom trash can.
No they don't recycle well and Manufactures generally do not use recycle plastic.
Only two of the retail stores where I shop have plastic bag recycling stations, and they are not
clearly marked. Only one of these stores has the bag recycling container right at the entrance,
where it is most logical and convenient.
can't we just get rid of them?
Not all stores have recycling bins for plastic bags
Without a viable way to recycle plastic bags, then the only other choice is to ban them outright,
and find a sustainable way to break them down into component pieces that can then be recycled.
Certainly increased
Not all stores have well marked bag recycling receptacles. Also, it is hard to know which bags are
accepted for recycling and which aren't.
Just don't use them at all, then we don't have to recycle them at all.
I think they should be banned.
Walmart is the only place I've seen a bin for recycling plastic bags easily accessible near my
home. It seems that we should be able to put them in with the rest of our recycling items to go to
Sanipac.
Need more info
I think people have plenty of viable options already available to them. They just need to get
serrious about the problem and recycle.
I think our world would be a much better place without them. We could use the fuel to keep us
energy dependent. and have less plastic in the ocean and in our land fills. Less to clog up
recycling machines and storm drains.
We find it pretty easy to recycle ours.
Ease
it is time to do away with them
are they recycleable. if so, let the public knoe
I think we should get rid of them along with paper bags. Or the grocery stores should charge
people to supply a bag.
