Attachment D: Text responses from consumer plastic bag ban survey
let's just get rid of them!
Would be nice to be able to put in recycling bin at home and send with garbage pick up
Most stores have bins to put recyled plastic bags.
I'd like to see a more prominent display of retailers who accept them. The one at Fred Meyer's
stores can be missed at the entry way if you are not looking for it.
people can leave them at their grocery store. how much easier can it be?
More retailers need to make recycling containers for clean empty plastic bags OBVIOUSLY
available to the public.
Curbside. What about dry cleaning bags?
I think we need to stop providing single use carryout bags. People can learn to bring their own
bags and will learn faster when there are no other options.
It would be great to know what kinds of plastic bags can be recycled and also the different
locations where that service is available.
Don't allow single use plastic bags
It's easy already since you are already going to a grocery store and can recycle them there.
If the stores that provide them continue to collect them (I have not had the need to check
recently), and if International Paper continues to collect them, I think it is just a question of
education. If they are elminated entirely, then there will be less of a need to recycle. Not sure if all
vendors that provide them also collect them, but they should.
I believe the plastic carryout bag is a scourge and should be banned.
ban the bags in all countries
They should be able to go right into our recycle bin.
More recycling bins are needed.
I take all recycled bags to the grocery stores. However, it might be more convenient for some
people to recycle them with their garbage hauler, in their recycling cans.
In some cities they are picked up with the recycling.
There needs to be a message of at least where to bring them.
Most people don't bother to take their plastic bags somewhere to recycle them, and they just
throw them away or reuse them. I definitely think that there should be more options.
You cannot put them in your recycling can, and many people do not bother to take them
somewhere that recycles them.
We recently moved to Eugene and we found it hard to believe that we could not include these
single use bags in our regular recycle can. Luckily the market of Choice near us does recycle
them.
I think it is better that we ban one-use bags and push recycling of the ones we can't avoid
I see that there are bag recycle containers at Safeway and Albertsons, but they don't stand out at
other stores. The recycling containers need to be more visible.
I think they should be banned, not recycled.
It's my current understanding that these bags can not be recycled
Retailers can use products such as BioBags that are biodegradable and compostable.
Maybe. I'm not aware of what the options for recycling would be, other than reusing.
since many people seem so lazy, you may consider requiring recycling options in every retail
store in which bags are given away, so people can come in and recycle their extras or even get a
used bag instead of a new one.

i personally would prefer a complete ban on all petrochemical-based plastics.
Should be banned.
I think we should just quit using them.
