Attachment D: Text responses from consumer plastic bag ban survey
At whose expense? Provide adequate teacher-student ratio and stop eliminating things like art
and music in schools - a better use of the money although of course you might not make the
national news.
Get rid of them!
All grocery stores should have bag recycling bins.
Because they will probably be used for a long time to come especially for produce
Plastic manufacturers should be forced to provide sustainable alternative recycling methods for
ALL plastic packaging, including shrink wrap and those horrible plastic cartons used to package
electronics. I don't believe that plastic bags have to be made of plastic; why not design something
like the reusable potato cutlery used at Cafe Yumm?
Lane County dump needs to provide a place for the plastic bags and not tell us they have to be
thrown in the "pit".
If SaniPac would pick them up during regular recycling, a lot more people would be able to recycle
them. It's a huge pain to recycle them currently.
Do you mean more options for recycling the bags into other items or do you mean more options
for disposal locations? Not clear.
Can't put in Sanipac recycle bins.
I wasn't even aware there were venues to recycle them.
If I had an easy alternative to throwing bags away, I would definitely consider recycling them after
reusing. I would definitely use this option in lieu of banning them.
But I believe the ordinance to ban them should be passed.
educating the public on rcycling is very important
Every major store has receptacles, and every recycling/garbage transfer site i've been to lately
has them. How many more options do you need?
Would be nice if you could recycle them in your garbage carrier's comingled recycling can.
If i knew that there were containers prominently displayed at the stores, I would make more of an
effort to save the bags and recycle them.
I think you should let stores give customers bio-degradable or recyclable bags. I think paper bags
are horrible since I live in Oregon and it rains (thus the paper bag rips.)
People think that it is too easy to put in the trash. Plain and simple, people are not thinking!!
A separate container should be provided for recycled bags at trash pick-up day
I think there are plenty of options, the people just have to use them. It is their choice.
Need more recycle bins on/near storefronts
A home recycling option would likely result in higher recycling compliance.
We just need to stop using them.
Not all stores have a plastic recycling container.
More options, yes, and also more promotion, both generally and at recycle sites (e.g., grocery
stores).
I don't trust that they are being efficiently recycled.
Most grocery stores already have a bin for them. It's more a matter of willingness to make the
effort.
Just stop using them
more stations around town. I recycle with

my garbage service too,but am not 100% certain

that they do recyle them. If I knew for certain that

they did take them and recycle, that would be the easiest.
I would rather see the bags eliminated than build infrastructure to recycle them.
