Attachment D: Text responses from consumer plastic bag ban survey
i think that if this passes there should be time to educate people, maybe phase in with an
increasing charge for plasic bags for a while
I think plastic bags should be banned. I see them all over the place and I rarely see a paper bag
blowing in the wind.
Absolutely should ban all plastic bags for the environment and wildlife.
We should ban plastic bags. No need for them when there are many other options and the cost
savings isn't enough to warrant their use.
I do not think sngle use plastic bags have a place in our world. They seemed like a keen idea but
now that we know the true cost it is time to move on. I lived in England in 1989 one of my
coworkers gave me one of her reusable bags. I still have it and I still use it.
Using my own bags is easy. It's unfortunate that we need laws to get people to do what's right for
the environment. But, that's where we are.
Have been environmentally conscious for years..getting better & better at remembering to get my
bags back into the vehicle for use in stores.
I do save my plastic bags for cat litter disposal, but I never just throw them in the trash without
reusing them. I would like to see plastic bags banned in Eugene, and I am very concerned about
wildlife endangerment. I pick them up whenever I see them on the street, and don't understand
why people aren't more careful about them.
I'm for banning plastic bags as I see what they do to the environment. We will learn to live without
them.
I am hoping plastic bags will be banned in Eugene.
I fully support a ban on disposable plastic grocery bags.
I think good reusable bags are made from hemp.
No logical or logistic reason seen for the dissemination of retail.provided plastic bags.
In addition to being detrimental to fish and wildlife, they present a major litter problem. They are
easily carried by wind and are caught in fences and vegetation, very unsightly. We refer to them
as "Texas Tumbleweed" due to Texas having more plastic bag litter than most states. It seems
dumb and wasteful when a customer can carry a few items by hand to the check out counter but
uses a plastic bag to carry them out.
I support the ban on plastic bags.
We need more education about the relative environmental and economic costs of paper, plastic
and reusable bags, where economic costs take into account environmental impacts of each
solution.
there is no excuse not to use reuseable bag
paper bags should be a no brainer...they compost well, they come from a renewable resource, etc.

this matter doesn't have to be overprocessed...just do it.
I think will require a law to actually get me to flly implement this

behavior changes.
I think Eugene should "ban the bag".
I would love to see more recycling stations city wide. While I hate the idea of plastic bags floating
out and about they do serve a purpose and have a carbon footprint smaller than normal plastic
garbage bags. I would rather see our efforts go to the reduction of bottled water and the
conversion of smarter packaging at stores which would have a greater impact on our quantity of
garbage in our landfil.
