Attachment D: Text responses from consumer plastic bag ban survey
I think taking away the right to choose which bag you would like is ridiculous. I use these bags
multiple times, and it saves me money. I don't buy garbage bags anymore.
The extra cost of handling re-usable bags will necessarily be passed on to the grocery shoppers.
Plastic bags are getting thinner and thinner, if they were thicker like in the past less would be
needed. I reuse all my plastic bags, then use them often for dog clean up or dirty diapers. If
plastic bags are no longer free, I will just have to buy small plastic bags.
Plastic bags are used for many things. They are NOT one time use bags, but are reused many
times and then recycled.
I like the plastic bags. They don't get wet and dissolve and they are clean, don't take up my time
and space. Oh, and I don't have to remember them to go shopping. This is a silly idea.
I can't believe Corvallis beat you to it!
We do not need more rules and regulations and restrictions.
Plastic Bags should no longer be distributed in the city of Eugene.
To help people bring in bags to stores a key chain with a mini bag; loops of bag hold keys!
I think it would be nice if the businesses were required to carry enough options for Paper. I always
ask. Often I get some excuse that they do not have any or they do not know where more are when
it is clear that they offer them. They create workstations to support the use of plastic, but not
paper. I understand the difficulty and why they use excuses. I use the paper to support my house
garbage and not use plastic there as well. (another plastic issue)
I use plastic bags for garbage bags, By using plastic bags in this way I don't have a lot of garbage
in my house and I take out the garbage more often. This bags are very very

useful in all kinds of ways. I even use them for storage for short periods of time. Lunch bags, etc.
I don't have to buy more bags, just reuse as needed. By using store bags, I have bags around
and don't need to buy more and throw away more. We need the store plastic bags as there are
provided
This is an incredible idea. I cannot say how excited I am that it's finally being considered. I've
always felt it a bit paradoxical that any city has done this and Eugene. Hasn't. Also, styrofoam to
go containers ought...well to go as well.
ITs ridiculous and a total waste to use single use bags... I am always shocked over the casual
use of bags in store, especially knowing the absolute waste of resources, the challenge of
recycling them and the pollution caused both by the production and environmental deposition of
plastic bags.
Pass the ban!!!
Fees on single-use bags are a better idea than choosing and banning one particular
material.Once the fee gets to 20 cents pre bag or so then people remember their reusable bags.
I reuse plastic bags often by using them as small garbage can liners and they are great for dirty
diapers and litter box clean up. I take the plastic bags I don't reuse back to the store to recycle. If
plastic bags are banned, I will have to buy more reusable shopping bags, and I will have to buy
small garbage bags to use in my home. This is more inconvenient and expensive for the
consumer. Please do not ban single-use plastic bags because for me, they are not just single-
use. Thank you!
I do not live in eugene but I have for the past 4 years
modern plastic bags are automatically recyclable, made from materials that decompose into corn
products
