ATTACHMENT G <br />M I N U T E S <br /> <br />Eugene City Council <br />th <br />Harris Hall, 125 East 8 Avenue <br />Eugene, Oregon 97401 <br /> <br />November 13, 2012 <br />5:30 p.m. <br /> <br />COUNCILORS PRESENT: <br /> George Brown, Pat Farr, Betty Taylor, Chris Pryor, George Poling, Alan Zelenka, <br />Claire Syrett <br /> <br />COUNCILORS ABSENT: <br />Mike Clark <br /> <br />Her Honor, Mayor Piercy called the November 13, 2012, work session of the Eugene City Council to order. <br /> <br />A. WORK SESSION: Opportunity Eugene Discussion Follow-Up and Panel Discussion. <br /> <br />Planning and Development staff, Michael Wisth and Sarah Medary introduced the panel of four <br />speakers: <br /> <br />Susan Ban – Executive Director, ShelterCare <br /> <br /> <br />Terry McDonald – Executive Director, St. Vincent de Paul of Lane County <br /> <br /> <br />Tom Mulhern – Executive Director, Catholic Community Services of Lane County <br /> <br /> <br />Dan Bryant – Pastor, First Christian Church; Opportunity Village representative <br /> <br /> <br />The panelists discussed where assistance is needed most, which program areas and people <br />could benefit the most, and what the most immediate needs are. The following needs were <br />identified: <br /> <br />Expand car camping program <br /> <br /> <br />Provide storage for personal belongings of homeless people <br /> <br /> <br />Provide sheltered area for people to ‘be safe and sleep’ <br /> <br /> <br />Assist with homelessness prevention <br /> <br /> <br />Assist with rapid re-housing efforts <br /> <br /> <br />Provide emergency housing for families <br /> <br /> <br />Staff indicated they would return to the council in the next few weeks with more detailed <br />information about each of the potential homeless camp sites, including permitted uses, zoning, <br />access to services such as water and electric, proximity to transportation, etc. <br /> <br />The work session adjourned at 7:03 pm. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Michelle Mortensen <br />Deputy City Recorder <br /> <br />MINUTES – Eugene City Council November 13, 2012 Page 1 <br /> Work Session <br />
