Active Bethel Citizens
and the City of Eugene can no longer ignore this fact.

We need to make Golden Gardens safe for all citizens.
We feel that attracting more citizens to the park will
help eliminate unsupervised activity. To attract more
citizens to the park we need to increase access and
positive recreational opportunities. To increase
access and positive recreational opportunities we need
to have Golden Gardens Park moved to a priority 1 and
we need funding for a study to determine how we can
best accomplish the development of our park.

An important component of development of this park
will be acquisition of additional land around the
ponds. Immediate acquisition of a minimum 100 ft.
around the perimeter of the large western pond will
allow for the sloping of the pond's edges to safely
accommodate access and fishing.

Additional acreage needs to be secured while the
surrounding land is undeveloped. Once development
begins, this opportunity will cease to exist. By
moving this project to a priority 1 and fast tracking
the development process, Golden Gardens will take it's
place among Eugene's other parks and open spaces as a
safe recreational experience for all citizens. By
becoming a much safer recreational park Golden Gardens
will minimize the possibility of future tragedies

Creating safe environments for recreation within the
City of Eugene is all of our responsibility and we
must accept it and act on it.

1
