Mayor Piercy & Members of the City Council,

My name is Liz Hayes and I am an 8th grade student at Prairie Mountain School.

This summer, our school lost a close friend, Nick Davis, to Golden Garden Ponds.

We also lost Brittan Shepard Davis, a student at Shasta middle, who was one of our

student's brothers. Three other children have also lost their lives to these ponds just

in the last twelve years. This needs to be stopped.

This park needs to be cleaned and the ponds need to be made safe. Right now the

parks clean up is not planned to happen for twenty years. By then, I will be 34 and

could already have lost a loved one to these ponds. We, as an eighth grade, are

trying to plant trees and put down bark dust to do our part in making the park
cleaner.

We need you to make the park safe by killing the weeds and garbage at the bottom

of the ponds that entangle children. Also we need you to make a bank so that if some

one falls in they can get out.

Please, we need your help. This is not a small issue! No one wants to lose another

loved one.

Sincerely,

Liz Hayes
