Mayor Kitty Piercy and members of City Council,

Hi my name is Britnee Klopp. I am an eighth grader at Prairie Mountain

Middle School. Last summer on father's day I lost two of my very good friends,

Nick Davis and his cousin Britton Shephard Davis in a swimming accident at

Golden Garden ponds. My purpose now is to inform you of how much suffering us

kids have endured in losing our friends. I think that something should be done

about the safety of the ponds soon so that no other friends and family's have to go

through the pain that all of us have already went through and continue to deal with

today.

I think that it is very important to make the ponds safe so that the people

that do enjoy going and hanging out at the ponds can do so without worrying about

their safety. I do know that even through people know about the deaths, they still

think it is a "cool" place to hang out and swim in.

I really do not have a plan but my idea is to make Golden Garden ponds a

safer more fun place to hang out we don't want people to swim there. It would be

nice if maybe we could plant some trees and flowers to make it more a "Golden

Garden", add picnic tables and garbage cans. One idea that we eighth graders came

up with is to make a memorial at the ponds for all the kids that have died there; to

remind people why it is unsafe.

(D
