Mayor Kitty Piercy and Members of City Council:

Hello, my name is McKenzie Davis. I am the sister of Britton Davis and the cousin Nick

Davis, the boys who drown in Golden Garden Ponds. I am writing to tell you that we need to do

something with the Golden Garden Ponds.

It has taken lives every 4 to 5 years and something needs to be done about it. Why not try to save

lives if it is in our control. I don't want someone else's family to go through the pain and suffering

that my family is going through right now if they don't need to and it can be prevented.

It's considered a park. Kids should be able to play on a playground, fish, go on walks, walk

their pets, and enjoy themselves. However, Golden Garden Ponds are too nasty to do anything down

there. I know you are thinking, "if it is so nasty, why was your brother and cousin there?" The

answer is simple, they are teenage boys. I ask you if any of you have teenage sons? I think you'd

agree, that's what teenage boys do and that's what teenage boys are attracted to. If it' s a 'public

park', what would make them think anything is unsafe? I know them well enough to know that if

they had any clue how deep the pond was or what dangers lie beneath, they would have made a

different choice.

All I know is I want something done to make it a nice park. I will volunteer my time to make

it that way if that is what it is going to take and that is what you need. I think lots of people would

be more than willing to lend a hand and volunteer.

I think it is important to make the area safe because it is killing people. I plan to give my

time to make the Golden Garden Ponds safe. I hope you, our City Council and City Representatives,

hear our voices and do your part to make the park a nice park; a 'real' park; not just dangerous

waters. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
McKenzie Shepherd-Davis
