Mayor Kitty Piercy and members of City Council,

My name is Breauna Germyn and I'm an 8th grade student at Prairie Mountain middle

school. This summer I lost one of my best friends Nick Davis at Golden Garden Ponds. It

has affected me, my friends, and my community. Not only has my friend died there but

many others, and somebody needs to stop it. Too many deaths have occurred there.

You call it a park but too many teens here in Eugene call it the Pitts. To me, that doesn't

sound like a safe park that I would like to visit. Not only does it sound bad but it sounds

dangerous and it is dangerous. I think that in order to make a change you need to do your

part to clean them up, and maybe add some play structures for children. You could also

make notice that those ponds are dangerous and many deaths have occurred there. We

need roads in order to get there in case there ever is another accident. Hopefully, there

will be a chance somebody might live because it took too long for the fire department to

get there.

This really has affected many, many people, especially family and friends. If that were

your son, daughter, or relative, I know you would understand Just please make notice

that peoples lives are gone because of those ponds, and I know that many others feel the

same way I do. All I ask is for you to help out in our community, and if no changes are

made there will probably be more deaths occurring in the future.

Sincerely,

Breauna Germyn
