Mayor Piercy and members of the Eugene City Council:

My name is Bryce Englehardt and I go to Prairie Mountain School. I
. would like to talk about the Golden Garden Ponds, or The Pits as referred to.
I knew one of the four people who have drowned in these ponds in the past
12 years. The ponds are unsafe and I want to make cleaning them up a

number one priority.

The ponds have swallowed many lives in their depths. Not just the
people who have died, or even their families. Everybody around them was

affected. We need to make the ponds safer before any more lives can be

taken.

I will do as much as I can to make the ponds safer. My 8th grade class

has plans to set up memorial, put sawdust on the trails, and plant trees. We

plan to fund these projects by various fund raisers.
There are things that we can't do though. Things like building a road
to the ponds, lowering the bank, or by planting fish in them. I want to
basically turn them into Junction City Pond.
Please help us make a better, safer, community. This should be our

number one priority. I leave you with these things to consider. Sincerely,

Bryce Englehardt
