Mayor Piercy and The Eugene City Council:
I am Keir Tasa an 8th grade student at Prairie Mountain School. I'd like to bring

to your attention that the Golden Garden Ponds aren't safe. You can't call it a city park if

it's not safe. Five boys have drowned there in the last 40 years. Even if one person had

died there it would still, be a big problem.

I have some solutions for the safety problems. You could rope off an area for

swimming and clean that place up. You could give the ponds banks so if someone

accidentally fell in they could get out. You could put a rail around the ponds so if

someone tripped they wouldn't fall in. there are so many things you could do but the

question is will you do them.

Imagine it was one of your kids who had drowned, then would you do something.

The parents of the kids are feeling the grief you would be feeling if it were your kid. Do

you want this to happen again this summer or do you want to stop it. It's your choice. Are

you going to make this your #1 priority instead of your number #5?

Sincerely,
Keir Tasa
