Mayor Kitty Piercy and members of City Council:

My name is Brittany Blake and I'm an eighth grade student at Prairie

Mountain. I am writing this letter to inform you about the losses at Golden Garden

ponds. In the last twelve years we have had four males drown in those ponds and

one prior to those four most of which ofthem were in their teens. We need to

concentrate on how many people have nearly drowned there as well. Attention has

to be brought to the ponds and something must be done.

It's important to make the ponds safe because if you didn't fix the problem

it's like you just sitting there watching it happen. You can make a difference it you
just help us to help other people. You being Mayor and City Council you need to
realize what needs to be done to keep us safe.
We would like to fill up the ponds with cement or dirt so that way people
won't be able to swim or drown in it. If it's meant to be a garden then lets make it a

garden. Our eight grade class has come up with a solution that we can do a

fundraiser to put in a memorial for the five young boys that drowned. We would

also like to put in some flowers and plant some trees and maybe some trails. We

want this to be a place for family's to come and have fun with each other.

I hope you take into consideration of what we have asked. It's not only

important to us but also to the family's with loved ones gone and the ones who don't

feel safe about letting their children go to a near by garden/park. We need to make a

place where people can go with their family and feel safe and have a good time.

I want to close this letter with a thank you. Thank you for taking time out of

your day to read a letter. Please remember that this isn't just a letter it is an

G)
