South Willamette Concept Plan <br />Analysis and Integration <br />A series of four primary public workshops <br />and online presentations, with questionnaire <br />feedback, between October 2011 and October <br />2012, with the following objectives and outcomes <br />Greater development of the products of these <br />workshops is provided in Part IV, The Vision: <br />October 2011- Hands on design charrette, <br />or workshop, manipulating colored paper <br />representing street, bike and pedestrian <br />networks as well as a range of building <br />types. Eight table groups of community <br />members, design professionals, planning and <br />engineering staff worked together to identify <br />"big ideas" for the long term vision of the <br />district. <br />December 2011- Synthesized results of the <br />October design charrette workshop were <br />provided to show shared vision and areas <br />for further work. Also presented was the first <br />draft concept plan in a series of seven maps, <br />identifying locations for uses in the district. <br />Table groups provided organized feedback <br />and direction for going forward. <br />June 2012 - Presentation and discussion of a <br />revised draft concept plan and the emerging <br />vision for building forms. The focus was on <br />illustrations of district -wide cross sections <br />showing the size and shape of allowed <br />existing development and a proposal for <br />future development, generally of a more <br />compact and integrated scale. Introduction <br />of new zones, Single Family Options and Row <br />House, which support gradual transitions <br />between building types. <br />October 2012 - Presentation and discussion <br />of finer grain design details and streetside <br />character along the following street types: <br />Willamette Street, Side - Street Mixed Use, <br />Apartments & Condos, and Single Family <br />Options. The workshop offered opportunities <br />to discuss design of building facades and <br />the features that are most important for <br />contributing to success of the district. <br />Detailed study of tools to provide transitions <br />between building types was also discussed. <br />Workshop presentations are available at: <br />http: / /www.eugene- or.gov /swillamette <br />Integration with the South Willamette <br />Transportation Improvement Project: <br />Ongoing collaboration on design concepts <br />for the street and the long term vision for the <br />streetside character of Willamette Street was <br />integral to the process. <br />20- Minute Neighborhoods are walkable <br />environments that provide convenient, safe, <br />pedestrian focused access to every -day <br />needs. Services such as transit, work, school, <br />food, shopping, parks, and public spaces <br />for social activities are all located within a <br />20- minute journey. <br />City of Eugene ■ 19 <br />
