It is hoped that this work -may be completed and the materials <br />! "received not later than mid June. Copies of <br />the proposed budget will be delivered to all members of the budget committee and <br />the tentative date of Monday, May 26th has been set for the first meeting of the <br />Budget Committee. <br /> <br />(. <br /> <br />.' <br />L <br />I, <br />I <br />I <br />Ii <br />II Acting upon instructions of the Public Works Committee of the Council, <br />a poll has been taken of the owners on Harris Street between 18th and 28th with <br />I reference to the letting of a contract for improvement of the street at an approxi- <br />I, hlate cost of $7.20 per front foot. Results of this poll show 51 property nwners <br />! representing 3996 front footage opposing the improvement a t this time. Twenty- . <br />!, five have declared themselves in favor while several property owners were desirous <br />(, of waitIng bids for concrete pavement. After giving further study to the matter, <br />! I should like to recommend to the Counc il tha t all bids for the improvement of <br />i: Harris Street be rejected at this time and that the job be re.;..advertised at a <br />Llater date." <br />\ <br />I <br /> <br />The Riverwood Addition lateral sewer system has been completed under <br />contract and work is progressing favorably on the Franklin Blvd. Interceptor Sewer. <br />The Amazon Trunk project is scheduled to get under way within the next two weeks <br />and the sidewalk construction contracts are nearing completion. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />It was moved by Pennington, seconded by Crumbaker that the report be received and <br />placed on file. Motion carried. <br /> <br />{The City Manager presented the proposed Lease Agreement covering the <br />4 I'rental of property on 13th Avenue West to the 6th Army Organized Reserve Corp. <br /> <br />i <br />i, It was moved by Hawn, seconded by Crumbaker tha t the City Manager be authorized to <br />!. enter into a contract as presented with the Organized Reserve Corp. Motion carried. <br /> <br />, <br />, <br />I <br />I fields, <br />I <br /> <br />A report of the City Manager re: lighting for baseball and softball <br />playground 19th and Washington, was submitted and read. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />"In conjunction with plans now under way for the development of the 19th <br />and Wa'shington playground area, we have programmed the eventual installation of <br />lighting facilities for the baseball and softball fields at a total cost of <br />~approx~mately $10,000.00. <br /> <br />In conversations with the Eugene Water Board they have expressed willing- <br />~ness to proceed with such installation this summer under an agreement wherein we <br />lwill pay back the installation charges over a period of five (5) years. We feel <br />'that this will be a valuable addition to our park-playground facilities .and program <br />land we'would be able to handle these contract 'payments out of our yearly park and <br />trecreation budget. I should, therefore, like -to ask authoriz~tion of the Council <br />Ito enter into a contract with the Eugene Water Board for the installation of the <br />[lighti?g system this summer on the" foregoing basis." <br /> <br />:It was'm0ved by Crumbaker, seconded by Davis that the report be received and placed <br /><on fife and that the' Manager be authorized to enter into an agreement with the <br />-Eugene" Water Board for light installation.
