9.6730Pedestrian Circulation On-Site. <br />(2)Applicability of Standards. <br />As more specifically provided in this section, the <br />standards in this section apply to any development that creates a new building <br />entrance, but not to a building alteration or change in use. <br />(a)In any zone, except I-2 and I-3, on-site pedestrian paths shall be <br />constructed in the following cases for institutional, office, commercial <br />andemployment andindustrialdevelopment: <br />1.Between all new building entrances and all streets adjacent to the <br />development site. On-site pedestrian paths shall be designed and <br />constructed to provide a direct connection to existing public right- <br />of-way and public accessways. <br />2.To connect any new building entrances on a development site to <br />all other new and existing building entrances on the same <br />development site, except entrances used primarily forloading and <br />unloading freight. <br />3.Along the exterior walls of new buildings greater than 100 feet in <br />length when the wall of the building is located next to a street, <br />parking lot or when a public entrance or entrances are located on <br />the edge of the building, except in the following cases: <br />a.When the edge of a building is within 20 feet of a public <br />sidewalk and the building entrance is connected to the <br />public sidewalk by an on-site pedestrian facility, no on-site <br />pedestrian facility on the edge of the building adjacent to the <br />sidewalk is required. <br />b.When the edge of the building is bordered by a perimeter of <br />landscaping which does not exceed 30 feet in width, and an <br />on-site pedestrian facility is constructed at the edge of the <br />landscaping, no on-site pedestrian facility immediately <br />adjacent to the landscaped building edge is required. <br />4.To connect institutional, office, commercial and employment and <br />industrialuses on the development site to adjacent existing or <br />planned institutional, office, commercial oremployment and <br />industrialuses, and to existing or planned transit stops, schools, <br />or neighborhood parks where the addition of on-site pedestrian <br />paths would reduce walking or cycling distance between the uses <br />by 200 feet and by at least 50 percent over other available <br />pedestrian routes. <br />5.Along any development site, an on-site pedestrian facility <br />connecting the street to the main building(s) shall be provided for <br />every 300 feet of street frontage or for every 8 rows of vehicle <br />parking, or for whichever standard requires the most on-site <br />pedestrian paths. <br />(b)In employment andindustrial developments on E-1zoned property, on- <br />site pedestrian paths shall be constructed in the following cases: <br />1.Between the main building entrance and all streets adjacent to the <br />development site. On-site pedestrian paths shall be designed and <br />constructed to provide a direct connection to existing public right- <br />of-way and public accessways. <br />Ordinance -Page 41of 48 <br />
