21 ~ <br />_ ~~ _` <br />-- - - - -- - - - - - - - __ - r <br />exercise of the police power, the City Council hereby adopts and ratifies the <br />installation and use of parking meters as already established and as hereafter <br />established by the Police Committee by the placing of parking meters upon the <br />streets. <br />Section 24. PARKING PlIETER TIME AND FEES; A parking meter fee of Five Cents <br />00.05) shall be paid by all persons parking a motor vehicle using metered <br />parking time for one hour and a parking meter fee of One Cent (0.01) shall be paid <br />by all persons parking a motor vehicle using metered parking time for twelve <br />minutes, all as provided by the legend on the meter. Provided, however, that <br />parking meter space may be used without charge on Sundays and legal holidays, <br />and may be used on other days of the week between six o'clock P.M. and nine o'clock <br />A.Ni., and delivery motor vehicles may use loading parking meter space without <br />charge on any day. Delivery motor vehicles are trucks used for delivery purposes <br />only. <br />Section 25. PARKING ~~TER SPACE TO BE DESIGNATED: The City Engineer's off ice <br />is hereby authorized and directed to place lines or marks on the curb or on the <br />street or avenue about or along side of each parking meter to designate the park- <br />ing space for which said parking meter is• to ~be used, and each motor vehicle parked <br />along side of or next to any parking meter shall park within the lines or markings <br />so established. It shall be a violation of this ordinance to park.any motor <br />vehicle across any such line or mark or to park said motor vehicle in such a wqy <br />that the same shall not be within the area so designated by such line or mark. <br />Section 26. &~ANNER OF PARKING IN b7ETER PARKING SPACE; When any motor vehicle <br />shall be parked in any phce along side of or next to which there is located a <br />parking meter, the owner, operator, manager or driver of such motor vehicle shall <br />upon entering the said parking space immediately deposit either a Five Cent or a <br />One Cent coin of the United States in the parking meter along side of or next to <br />said parking space and perform any mechanical act required by the directions posted <br />on said parking meter, and the said parking space shall then be used by such motor <br />vehicle during the parking limit provided by section 24 of the ordinance for the <br />part of the street or avenue in which said parking space is located. If scald motor <br />vehicle shall remain parked in any such parking space beyond the parking limit fixes <br />by sa~cl section 24 of this Ordinance for such parking space, the parking meter <br />shall display a sign showing illegal parking and in that event such motor vehicle <br />shall be considered as parked overtime beyond the said period of time, and the <br />parking of an automobile overtime or beyond the period of time fixed by section <br />24 of this Grdinance in any such part of the street or avenue where any such <br />parking meter is located shall be a violation of this ordinance and punishable <br />as hereinafter provided.
