EXTENSIOi~T OF PARKING TI_~_E PROHIBITED: It shall be unlawful <br />and an offense under this ordinance for any person to deposit or cause to be <br />deposited in a parking meter, a coin for the purpose of extending the parking <br />time beyond the time fixed by this ordinance for parking in the parking space <br />along side of or next to which said parking meter is placed. The display of a <br />sign showing illegal parking on any parking meter while a motor vehicle is parked <br />in a space adjoining said parking meter shall be prlina facie evidence that:said <br />motor vehicle has been parked overtime and beyond the parking period of time. <br />Section 28. REGULATION AS TO COINS AND PROTECTION OF PARKING T~iETERS: It <br />snall be unlawful and an offense to deposit or cause to be deposited in any <br />parking meter, any slug, device or substitute for a coin of the United States. <br />It shall be unlawful and a violation of this Ordinance for any person to deface, <br />injure, temper with, open or wilfully break, destroy or impair the usefulness <br />of any parking miter installed under the terms of this ordinance.. <br />Section 29. FEE EXACTED AS A POLICE REGULATION: The coins required to <br />be deposited as provided by this ordinance are levied as police regulation, <br />supervision and inspection fees, to cover the cost of inspection, supervision <br />and regulation involved in the inspection, installation, operation, control <br />and use of tie parking spaces and parking meters described herein and involved <br />in checking up and regulating the parking of motor vehicles in the parking meter <br />district created by this ordinance. <br />Section 30. Ii~~POUNDTDIG OF AUTOMOBILES: In tYie event any motor vehicle shall <br />be found standing or parked in violation and contrary to any of the provisions <br />of this ordinance, such motor vehicle shall be given a traffic tag, or be removed <br />by the Bureau of Police and taken to a garage and there kept until the applicat~ior <br />for• its redemption shall be made by the owner or his duly authorized agent, <br />who shall be entitled to the possession thereof upon the payment to the City <br />of the sum of (~2.U0). In the event the motor vehicle impounded shall not be <br />redeemed within ten days, then such motor vehicle shall be sold after first <br />publishing once in a newspaper in the City and postion ih three public places <br />a notice of sucYi proposed sale, allto be done ten days before the date of the <br />sale, such notice to describe the automobile and .the time and place of the sale. <br />The impounding fee and cost provided for in this ordinance shall be cumulative of <br />any and all other penalties that may be provided. <br />Section 31. REGULATIONS AS TO LOADING AND UNLOADING Ih? PAR SING PJIETER DISTRICT <br />No person shall stand or park or double park a motor vehicle in a loading zone in <br />the parking meter district for tl~e purpose of loading or unloading passengers at <br />any time.
