No rooms or romm shall be assigned to two persons of the <br />opposite sex, except in cases of children accompanied by parents or guardian, <br />unless such persons shall be registered as husband and wife. <br />Section 13. For the purpose of determining the liability of any person or <br />persons to prosecutions for violating any of the provisions of this Ordinance, <br />it shall be sufficient to show that sucYz person vras at the time of the act of <br />violation complained of, the person in actual charge, management, or control of <br />the house in which such act is alleged to have been committedl <br />Section 17. The City. Recorder of tge City of Eugene shall keep an indexed <br />record of pez°mits issued pursuant to the provisions of this Ordinance, together <br />with a record of convictions for violations of the provisions of this Ordinance. <br />Section 18. Any person violating any of the provisions of this Ordinance, <br />upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine of not more than two hundred <br />(200.00) dollars and costs, and in default of the payment of such fine, to be <br />imprisoned in the City jail one day foi~ each X2.00 of sucri fine. <br />Section 19. The City Recorder shall report to the Common Council the <br />prosecutio:.1 or conviction of any person to whom a permit has been issued, and <br />the Common Council may thereupon revoke and terminate the permit so issued to such <br />person. <br />Section 20. Tn addition to the remedies provided for herein, it shall be <br />the duty of the Chief of Police whenever a hotel, rooming house, or lodging house <br />shall be operating without a permit and has no application pending, t~~ give the <br />person in charge a written notice to close said place and evict all tenants <br />
