<br />A garage in a building, ~~-ith no other occupancy shall. have the floors on +trhich machines
<br />are kept er stored., either of concrete +.rith chicken wire nettinp•, if laid on wood, or
<br />covered 4rith terrazzo or vitrified. the not less than one (1) inch in thickness, or
<br />other incombustible material.
<br />(a) There shall be at all times maintained in every such building used for the
<br />of oresaid purpose, one approved fire extinguisher of 2 1~2 gallons capacity ±•rhen the
<br />floor space is 2,000 square feet or. fraction thereof.
<br />(b) No gasoline shall be put into or taken out of any automobile in the
<br />presence of an open flame or urhile an engine is running.
<br />(c) No light of any kind other than electricity shall be used for illuminating
<br />purposes in a,ny automobile garage when electricity is available.
<br />(d) All electric motors not actually a part of an automobile shall be located
<br />at least four (~+) feet above the floor, unless of approved explosion-proof type.
<br />(e) All repair shops shall be kept clean and the floor free from oily
<br />~uaate or rags; all such r~.gs and t~raste and. combustible rubbish shall be kept in
<br />metal cans or receptacles covered +r~ith tight fitting covers.
<br />Part 18.
<br />FIRE EXITS
<br />1801. No person shall at any time place an encumbrance of any kind t~rhatsoever
<br />before or upon a,ny~fir.e excape, balcony or ladder intended- as a means of escape from
<br />fire. It shall be the duty of every member off the police and. fire departments who shall
<br />discover any fire es.ca.pes encumbered in any manner to forvrith report to the Bureau of
<br />Fire Prevention and. the said Bureau shall immediately notify the owner and the tenant
<br />to remove such encumbrance.
<br />1802 It shall be unla,~aful for any person to place, store or keep, or permit to be
<br />place, stored or kept under or at the bottom of any stairtrray, inside or outside,
<br />elevator ov other shaft in a.ny building, any combustible or flammable matere.ls, fluids
<br />or compounds, nor shall any such combustible or flammable materials be placed or
<br />stored or. kept in any place +,rhere ~,gtl~tion or burning taould obstruct or render
<br />hazardous, egress from a. bui~.ding.

<br />180 A7.1, doors, aisles and passageways within and leading into or out of places of
<br />assembly shall be kept free from easels, signs, standards,camnstoors, chairs, sofas,
<br />benches a.nd any other article that might obstruct or delay the exity of the audience,
<br />congregation or assemblage during the entire time during which any shoe,+, performance,
<br />service exhibition, lecture, concert, ball. or other assemblage naay be held. Clear
<br />passage from all exitys and on sid.eeialks must at a11. times be maintained outside of
<br />all places of assembly. No aisle, pase:agetr~ay or stairway in any store shall be obstructed
<br />+.aith tables, sho~•~ cases, or other obstruction during hous said ,s tore is open to the
<br />public: It shall be the duty of the Chief of the Police Department to render
<br />assistance in the enforcement of the provisions of this part and to direct and require
<br />police officers to enter all places of assembly for such purposes.
<br />1805 MARKING OF EXITS.
<br />(a) In rooms accommodating more than seventy-five persons, required exit
<br />door?~rays, other than those normally used for entrance, shall be plainly marked by
<br />approved exity signs, sufficiently illuminated +n~hen the floor area is occupied,
<br />to be readily distinguished.
<br />(b) Directional signs, as required, shall be placed on walls or otherwise
<br />displayed in conspicuous loca~ioris to direct occupants to exits.
<br />1806 LIGHTING OF EXITS.
<br />(a) Required exity +aays shall be kept adequately lighted at all times that
<br />the building served. thereby is occupied..
<br />(b) ~~Ihere the nunber of persons exceeds 75 in any room the artificial
<br />lighting of the room and of the exit ways therefrom shall be by electricity so
<br />arranged a.nd supplied that interu~ot~en of supply to anyone lighting branch circuit
<br />twill not result in extinguishment of all the lights in the room or all the lights
<br />along the exit way.
