For women - financial opportunity is a fairly recent thing. Save some issues for women. <br /> <br />Switch to brainstorm. <br /> <br />Ideas are process <br /> <br />Critical <br /> <br />Start discussion on time - we started late today. <br /> <br />Promotion of professionalism and expertise both in the City and community. Racism is <br />unprofessional. <br /> <br />Look at items from all of the groups and prioritize for the overall picture. “What does <br />this group view as critical?” <br /> <br />Lack of education. <br /> <br />Build a community platform for the youth or they will move on. <br /> <br />Who’s missing? <br /> <br />White minority groups (various nationalities) <br /> <br />Fundamentalists <br /> <br />Business community to get into an economic discussion <br /> <br />How can we encourage employers to have a civic mind? Employees get involved and <br />supported to be part of the conversation. <br /> <br />City government requests of businesses to have employees involved. <br /> <br />Start later? Be careful not to add to the workday. Ask businesses to contribute to the <br />community by supporting employee involvement in the conversation. <br /> <br />Invite teachers to the discussion. <br /> <br />Get City Council to meet with groups directly. Go to them. Councils asks and initiates. <br />Look for cross sections within different communities. <br /> <br />Ideas <br /> <br />-Outreach to new faces <br /> <br />-Times need to work for people not losing money <br /> <br />-Safe spaces to talk <br /> <br />-City Council takes on responsibility to talk to business community to give <br />employees paid time off to be part of the discussion <br /> <br />-Talk to employees about why it’s important for them to get involved <br />Communities of Color 43 July 12, 2006 <br />
