(10)

DIVERSITY PLAN:

Create diversity plan with recruitment benchmarks. (1, 4)

City should provide leadership to other communities. (1)

Need outline or blueprint – are there communities out there who have done this and have
models? (3)

Talk about our community history as a way to build. Tell the real story together. Bad
news - good news. (9)

TRAINING:

Get EPD employees more training on how to read people better. They need to change
their language and approach so that when they stop a minority, there isn’t so much
tension between the two. (4)

EDUCATION

Concerns about UO: Students shut down because of feeling unwelcome. Challenges for
students of color who are leaving due to hate crimes. (1)

Public schools: curriculum, teacher behavior towards students, student to student
behaviors (8)

Suggestion - better US history - more accurate. Tell more on Civil Rights. Teach
children to be more tolerant. (9)

Need a course of action – teaching about multiple perspective models particularly in
education. (8)
