Calkins, <br />City Attorney. <br /> <br />Mayor Williamson asked Councilman Large to take the chair so the 1~yor might <br />speak from the floor. Large, having taken the chair, the Mayor then3brought up <br />the petition of the electricians asking for a new inspector and stating the Water <br />Board will take over the electrical inspection of the City, if so requested, and <br />suggesting it is a good plan. After discu,ssion and the agreement to such plan by <br />the electricians through their Attorney, E 0 Immel, it was voted the Eugene Water <br />Board do the electrical inspection for the City from and after April 1, 1928. The <br />~~yor then resumed the chair. <br /> <br />The City Engineer feported on the Airport and the method of fixing it, stat- <br />ing it will be necessary first to drain the filed by ditching. The Engineer was <br />directed to do the work-under the supervision of the Park Board. <br /> <br />The City Engineer reported on leveling the ground back of the Butte and other <br />wise fixing it for play grounds and estimated 'i-t"will cost ~p2000.00 to do t,he work. <br />He also estimated it will cost from $1200.00 to ~1300.00 t~ construct Tennis Courts <br />on the Water tank. The matter was defe'rred till next meeting. <br /> <br />The matter of closing the Auto Park was discussed, The Park Board was asked <br />to give the ~ouncil its opinion of the propriety of abandoning such enterprise. <br /> <br />16 sidewalk assessment Ordinances, having been read the first time and passed <br />their second and third readings by title by unanimous consent under suspension of <br />the rule and were placed on their final passage. The ayes and nays were called, <br />all present voting aye, nay, none.
