<br />Whereas, heretofore and on J'une 28,1927, at a special City election
<br />held in the City of Eugene, Lane County, Or'e~on, there was approved and adopted
<br />by the electors of the Cl ty of" Eugene an amendment to the Charter of said City
<br />by adding a neVi chapter the re to au thori zing and empovfe ring the City of Eugene
<br />to extend and enlarge its power and lighting systeJn Ps adding such units,
<br />structures and equipment as shall in the judgment of its Water Board be deea:ad
<br />expedient, convenient and necessary; and further providing that upon application
<br />of the Water Board negotiable bonds of the City of Eugene to the ~nount of
<br />$1,250,000.00 or so much thereof as may be deemed necessary to be used with other
<br />funds for the completion of said project, shall be issued and sold as needed by
<br />the Common Council of the City of Eugene, and providing the form and manner of
<br />such issue and the de sc.:cipti on of' such fund upon the books of the City, and

<br />Vlhereas, the proje c t for which t he au thaI' iza t ion of the bonds was vo ted
<br />has gone fox'ward and the Eugene Via tel' Board has expended large sums of money
<br />from other funds in order that said project might be carried on, and that the
<br />necessity has now arisen for supplementing such fQnds by the sale of a portion
<br />of the bond issue so authorized at such election.

<br />Therefore, be it Resolved by the El~ene Water B02rd in reg~lar meeting
<br />assEHnbilie.d, that application be and the same is hereby made to the Common Council
<br />of the Gity of Eugene that there be issued of the $1,,250,000.00 of power and light
<br />bonds authorized by the electors of said City at a special City election held
<br />Tuesday, June 28,'1927, the sum of $~D6,000.00 of such bonds to be issued in the
<br />manner and form prescribed in the Charter Amendment authorizing their issuance,
<br />and that such bonds be immediately sold in the manner provided in such Charter
<br />A.iIlendmen t and the f'U.nds placed in the Power and Light Fund upon the books of th,e
<br />Eugene Water Bmrd be disbursed in carrying forward the erection and c,ompletion
<br />,of' the Power and Light system of said City as provided in its sald Oharter Amend-
<br />ment.

<br />A copy of this Resolut~on shall be transmitted to the Common Council of the
<br />City of Eugene as an application of the Eugene Water' Board for the issuance of
<br />$336,000.00 of said Bonds.
<br />
<br />The foregoing Resolution was duly adopted by the Eugene
<br />Water Board at its re6~lar meeting, February 11, 1929;
<br />and a copy ordered transmitted to the Honorable Mayor and
<br />Common C olinci 1 of the C it Y of E-G,g ene .

<br />An Ordinance providing for the issuance and sale of Three Hundred Thirty
<br />Six Thousand Dollars ($336,000.00) Power and Light Bonds of' the City of' Eugene,
<br />was re~d the first time, and passed its second and third readings by title
<br />by unanimous c onsen t under suspens ion of the rule, and was placed. on its final
<br />passage. The ayes and nays were called, all Councilmen voting aye, nay, none.
<br />The Ordinance was decl~red passedand numbered 7303.

<br />The City Engineer, b:l written communication,' called the attention of the
<br />Council to the request of George C. Christenson for the opening of GOth Avenue
<br />between Willamette and Mill Stre:t,with blue print attached. On motion it was
<br />ordered that the City Attorney prepare a resolution for the opening of' said
<br />street'.

<br />A communication from S. M. Calkins, Secretary of the City Planning Commission
<br />was read, SJ.bmitting a Resolution and proposed Charter Amendment for the purpose
<br />of' authorizing a tax le vy of' ~5,000.00, which Resolution and act are as follows:
