Bloom- <br />field as a driver to fill the vacancy, to be placed on the pay roll at a salary <br />of $120.00 per month, commencing June 1st, and that Elmer Smith be placed on <br />the pay roll, co~nencing June 1st, at a salary of ~95.00 per month, and such <br />committee recommended that the Chief should have the authority to make these <br />appointments, inasmuch as he is responsible for the Fire Department. A motion <br />was made a~d seconded to adopt the recommendation, and instructing the Recorder <br />to place the above men on the pay roll at the salaries named, and the ayes and <br />nays were called, all present vo~ing aye, nay, none, absent and not voting, <br />Monroe. Motion declared duly carried. <br /> <br />Chairman Hendershott <:1.1so reported to the Council that the .Ifire Chief, <br />who is President of the State Fire Chief's Association be granted a leave of <br />absence, with travel absence, with travel and hotel bills allowed to allow him <br />to attend the Annual Convention, to be held at Tillamook on June 5, 6, and 7th. <br />On motion, such report was adopted. <br /> <br />Chairman Zumwalt of the Health Gommittee requested further time to report <br />on the Meat Ordinance, and the same was continued until the next meeting of the <br />Council. <br /> <br />.,..... <br />- <br />- <br />C'J <br /> <br />.",-: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The matter of corrections in the Milk Ordinance was referred ~o the Milk <br />Inspector, health Committee, and City Attorney_ " <br /> <br />Chairman Lamb of the Street Committee reported that Mr. Hansen desired <br />to cut the curbing on the West side of Olive St. between 8th and 9th Avenues, <br />a wid.th 01> 40 feet. On motion, the request was denied, and the Council instruct- <br />ed the .l!;ngineer to limit the cut to bO feet. <br /> <br />A largely signed petition for relief from trains whistling withinfue <br />City Limits, was referred to the JUdiciary Committee.. . <br /> <br />A petition for p~ving Indiana ~treet from Agate to Golumbia ~treet, and <br />a petition for the paving of Onyx ~treet from IDth to 15th, were referred to the <br />Street Gommittee.
