<br /> ~ Communication from F. L. Burbee of Portland, Oregon, concerning a contract
<br /> for the Municipal Airport was presented, and referred to the Judiciary Committee.

<br /> ,Con~unication from G. G. and Clara R. Stratton was read, stating that they
<br /> I are charged with four feet more frontage on their lot at 1228 Olive Street than
<br /> their deed calls for. This was referred to the City Engineer.
<br /> Reports for the month of September 1935 from the City Engineer, Fire Depart-
<br /> ment and Police Department were presented and ordered filed.
<br /> An Ordinance granting a franchise to the Walters-Bushong Lumber Company to
<br /> extend a blow pipe across High Street at the site of the Company's plant, between
<br /> Fourth Avenue East and Fifth Avenue East, in the City of Eugene, was read the
<br /> second time and held over for the third reading at the next Council meeting. .
<br /> The Mayor called for discussion in behalf of the hearing on the condemnation
<br /> of the building at 245 Madis6n Street, and none appearing the following Re&olution
<br /> was read and adopted:

<br /> This matter coming on to be heard before the Common Council of the City of

<br /> ! Eugene pursuant to notice on the 14th day of October, 1935, at 7:30 o'clock P.M.
<br /> I of said day, in the Council, Chambers in the city hall in the city of Eugene, and
<br /> I
<br /> ,I it appearing to the Council that complaints have been made by residents living
<br /> near the property herein described, and reports have been made by the Chief of
<br /> II Police, the City Attorney and the Chairman of the Health Committee, declaring I
<br /> said building to be a dangerous building in fact and a dangerous building under
<br /> II the provisions of Ordinance No. 8292, and a nuisance.

<br /> I The Council thereupon proceeded to a hearing, and examined various persons on
<br /> I behalf of the city, including various city officers and members of the Council who
<br /> 'I
<br /> II
<br /> had inspected the building, and all those appearing at said hearing were heard
<br /> I
<br /> r and ~ere given opportunity to present any and all testimony, arguments and state-
<br /> II
<br /> ments on their behalf, and the Council, after having heard all remonstrances,
<br /> I
<br /> protests and objections, at this time makes its findings, as follows:
<br /> ,
<br /> First, that the said building be and the same is hereby declared to be a .-
<br /> dangerous building, as a matter of fact, and also the same is hereby declared to
<br /> be a dangerous building as defined by Ordinance No. 8292, adopted by the City of
<br /> Eugene: on the 9th day of May, 1932.
<br /> Second, that said building be and the same is hereby declared to be a public
<br /> nuisance.
<br /> Third, that owing to the delapidated and dangerous condition thereof, and its
<br /> general condition of disrepair, it is impossible to renovate, reconstruct or
<br /> repair the building, and it cannot be made safe and sanitary. I
<br /> Fourth, that it is the judgment of the Council that the building should be
<br /> 1\
<br /> removed and the nuisance abated.
<br /> Ii Fifth, that the building is not being put to any useful purpose and it should
<br /> I be immediately torn down and completely removed.
