The Common Council of the City of Eugene <br /> <br />be and it is hereby authorized to prepare and pass an <br /> <br />Ordinance adopting civil service for its full time paid <br /> <br />polic~men, and to make therein all necessary provisions for <br /> <br />the operation of said system. <br /> <br />Section 2. The Ordinance shall include the adoption <br /> <br />of the same system and method as the City has already adopted <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />with respect to its firemen, and may include the same Board <br /> <br />of Commissioners or another similarly appointed Board, which- <br /> <br />ever seems best in the discretion of the Council. <br /> <br />BALLOT TITLE <br /> <br />There is hereby submitted as a proposed ballot title <br />the following: <br /> <br />"Proposed by Resolution of the Common Council and <br /> <br />I i~ <br /> <br />referred to the electors: <br /> <br />CIVIL SERVICE FOR POLICE: <br /> <br />Shall the Charter of the City of Eugene be <br />amended authorizing and directing the Common <br />Council to adopt by Ordinance a civil service <br />system for its full time paid policemen? <br /> <br />VOTE YES OR NO <br /> <br />500 <br />501 <br /> <br />YES <br />NO <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />Application of Mrs. Leona Morehouse for a Hotel License at 667 Willamette <br />Street, known as the Sheridan Hotel, was presented, and motion made, seconded and <br />carried to grant the same. <br /> <br />'. <br /> <br />An Ordinance levying assessments for the repair of the sidewalk on the East <br />side of Washington Street between Cheshire Street and end of the plat, in the <br />City of Eugene, Lane County, Oregon, was read the first time and held ove"r. Mr. <br />Howard being represented by Councilman Lamb, asked for permission to be heard at <br />a later date on this, and Attorney Calkins assured Mr. Lamb that any time Mr. <br />Howard would come to his office he would talk the matter over with him. <br />
