<br />The Finance Committee declined to accept the $600.00 offer of David C.
<br />Baird for the north 110 feet of Lot 5 and the west 6 4/5 feet of Lot 4, Block 8,

<br />Building, Portland, Oregon $1000 Paving Intersection Bonds, due February 1, 1930,
<br />4i%, at a price of ~106.50. Councilmen voting aye on the issue were Lamb, Hender-
<br />shott, Bond, Carlson, Hanns, Page, Farrington; nay, none; absent, Reid.

<br />Department and the bids to be opened at the subsequent meeting and it was so ordere .

<br />At this time Councilman Reid arrived.
<br />
<br />The council authorized a salary increase from $100 to $115 to Jonn Quiner,
<br />registered engineer employed in the office of-the ~ngineer. It was pointed out
<br />that the additional sum was to be drawn from the extra-help fund of that department
<br />This action was unanimously approved. The increase in salary is, to become effect-
<br />ive March 1, 1937.

<br />The county has title to property located on the east side of Olive between
<br />II 13th and 14th (metes and bounds description known as the Overland and Fawver pro-
<br />!i perty). The total amount against this property in taxes and assessments is ap-
<br />If'I' proximately $600.00. It was the recommendation of the Finance Committee that the
<br />taxes be paid immediately.in order that the city might acquire title to protect its
<br />interest. The property is valued at $1500. Motion was seconded and the ayes and
<br />I nays were called; councilmen voting aye, Lamb, Hendershott, Reid, Bond, Carlson,

<br />The Fire and ~ater Committee was authorized to purchase a stove for the fire
<br />department kitchen from the regular funds.
<br />
<br />Councilman Farrington, chairman of the Health Committee, stated that the
<br />basement left unfinished at 20th and Hilyard ~ould be remedied if the city would
<br />connect the property with"a sewer at an expenae not to exceed ~15.00. Motion was
<br />seconded and unanimously approved. LaBe County, also interested in the property,
<br />is t? be asked to assist in filling in around the basement and cleaning the place.

<br />Councilman Page, chairman of the Park Committee, stated that the ~ark Board
<br />wis.hed the building and maintenance of all roadways in the ci ty parks be trans-
<br />ferred to the Street Committee. Mr. Page reported that heavy vehicles were still
<br />traveling on the roadways of the park. Mr. Sullivan was requested to resort to a
<br />chadn or cable barricade.
