Councilman Lamb of the Street Committee stated that a request had been made I' for a curb cut on Broadway and Pearl, the cut being on Pearl Street. Upon motion made and seconded, this action was approved~ I Councilman Bond further reported that Clair Larson, traffic officer, was in no better condition. It was the recommendation of his Comm3.ttee that Mr. Larson be paid through his vacation period with one week due from laBt year and two weeks for 1937 and the Recorder was instructed to draw a warrant co~ering this three weeks 19 period of time. Upon motion made and seconded, the recommendation was approved. I :1 Councilman Lamb reported that the repair of Fifth Avenue was under way. . He I . stated that trouble had been experienced between the city engineer and the engineer of the Oregon-Electric Company as to the proper condition of repair. It was the consensus of opinion that the Oregon-Electric Company was to raise their track to street grade and put it into proper repair and the City Engineer is hereby instruc- 20 ted to see that such state of repair is complied with. I The request of C. A. C~rlson to connect with the city sewer to serve Lots 5, 21 6, and 7, Block 1, Edblom's Addition, was referred to the fiewer Commi ttee. I Request of the Gilmore Oil Company to construct a roof over the greasing pit ~ at the service station located at 282 Van Buren Street, waB referred to the Board 0 Appeals. Upon motion made and seconded, the reouest of Richards' Brothers for permis- sion to install an indoor target range in their shop build1ng at 301 Lincoln Street 23 was unanimously granted. Smith for a lease on twenty-five feet on the west end of Lot 1 on Grand Street for the purpose of erect- 24 ing a sign, size 4 x 8 feet, was refused. / Communication from C. Valentine Boyer, President of the University of Oregon ~ asking for the assignment of a patrolman to conduct traffie in the district of the university during certain hours of the day, was referred' to the Pol ice Commi ttee. I Request of C. F. Hyde and D. F. Mains to cancel the deed issued to Ambrose Dennis and convey it instead to Anne Dennis, was referred to the Judiciary Committe 26 and City Attorney. / Reports from the Library and Health Department for the month of September,19 27 were ordered filed. Request for repeal of two city park ordinances was held for further consider - v I 28 tion. An ordinance amending Ordinance No. 7753 entitled "An Ordinance prohibiting the cutting of curbs in the city of Eugene, Oregon, etc.n had its second reading. At this time a communication from the Oregon Supply Company, petitioning the coun- cil to refuse permission to cut any more curbs than is now cut on the north side of 4th Avenue between Charnelton and Lincoln Streets, was read. Further reading of the ordinance was postponed indefinitely until the part:ies requesting the cut 29 could show cause why this should be granted. / ~
