(,~1116. 80); Sil va Chevrole~ Company, ($1181.00); and Sigloh- <br /> Sawyer Company ($1095.00). Upon motion made and ,seconded the bids were referred to r) <br /> 19 the Street Committee with Power to act. (Note: .the bid was awarded to Sigloh-Sawye <br /> Councilman Hanns, Chairman of the Fire and Water Committee told the council <br /> of the need for a passenger car, preferabl~ a coupe, to be used on duty in the Fire <br /> Department for the purpo~e of answering emergenci first aid calls and for cond~cting I <br /> fire investigations. . Councilman Hanns pointed out that in the past it had been <br /> customary for the Fire Chief and firemen on duty:to make these c~lls with their own <br /> cars. Councilman Bond questioned the advisibility of purchasing a' new car and <br /> after considerable discussion -and expression of opinion by various members of the <br /> department, motion was made "by Councilman Reid, seconded by Councilman Hanns, IT <br /> authorizing the Fire and Water Committee to purchase the necessary car when the mone <br /> 20"'- is available within the 1940 budget. The question being put, was unaninlously approv ed. <br /> " . <br /> Councilman Hanns reported he had been called a number of times by people <br /> inquiring why the city had not been watering the center strips of Agate and Villard <br /> Streets.
