<br /> Communication was presented from the Civil Service Commission stating that
<br /> probationers Carl CuddebackJand Burton Davis; Firemen and probationers J.T.H.
<br /> Cullender"'and C. P. Lindsay~ Patrolmen, had successfully passed their probationary
<br /> and physical fitness requirements and recommended that they receive permanent
<br /> appointment in their respective departments. Motion was made and seconded unanimous y I
<br /> approving the recornnendation of the commission. (note: Carl Cuddeback is employed
<br /> 2:1 during the leave of absence of Robert H. J?hnston, Fireman. Mr. Johnston is now
<br /> with the U. S. Army at Fort Lewis, Wn.)

<br /> Upon motion made and seconded the council dismissed the proposed opening
<br /> 25'- of Van Buren Street extending 160 feet south of the south line of West 13th Avenue,
<br /> and it was so ordered.
<br /> Communication was read from the City Planning Commission adopting as its
<br /> permanent r~port the tentative report changing the classification of Lots 71, 72,
<br /> 73 and. 74, Foster's Addition from a single family residence district to a light
<br /> industrial district. Upon motion made and seconded it was unanimously approved.
<br /> An ordinance amending Ordinance 8413 incorporating this classification change in
<br /> Foster's Addition was pres~nted and had its first reading and held over. A resolu-
<br /> tion directing the City Recorder to publish in the Register Guard not less than
<br /> three times a notice of a hearipg on th~ proposed change to be ~eld at the regular '.
<br /> council meeting on November 12, was presented and upon mbtion made and seconded -

<br /> At this time there came up for public hearing and consideration I
<br /> by the City Planning Commission a proposal to change the classification
<br /> of Lots 71, 72, 73 and 74, Foster's Addition to Eugene, Lane County,
<br /> Oregon, from a single family residence district to a light industrial
<br /> district, and there being no objections to the proposed change and the
<br /> City Planning Commission having under consideration its tentative report
<br /> thereon, the said tentative report is hereby adopted and made the
<br /> permanent report of the Planning Commission, and the Secretary is
<br /> directed ,to transmit the same to the Common Council of the City of
<br /> Eugene to hold further hearings thereon.

<br /> Common Council of the City of Eugene directing the City
<br /> Planning Commission to prepare a report upon the redistricting of a
<br /> certain area in the cityt the City Planning Commission hereby
<br /> adopts as its permanent report to be submitted at a public
<br /> hearing to be held in the Council Chambers in the City Hall r
<br /> of the City of Eugen~, at 7:30 o'clock p.m. of October 22, 1940,
<br /> the following proposed change: -
<br /> A proposal to change the classification of Lots 71, 72, I
<br /> 73 and 74, Foster's Addition to Eugene, Lane County, Oregon,
<br /> from a single family residence district to a light industrial
<br /> district.

<br /> adopted a tentative report, and converted the same into a
<br /> permanent and final report and resubmitted it to the Common
<br /> Council with the recommendation that the same be enacted
<br /> into an ordinance, and the Council has prepared and given its
<br /> first reading of an ordinance enacting said permanent report.
<br /> Now, Therefore, the City Recorder be and he is hereby "-
<br /> directed to prepare and cause to be published not less than
<br /> three times in the Eugene Register Guard in Eugene, Oregon, a
<br /> notice of a hearing to be held at the regular council meeting on
