Councilman Hawn, Chairman of the Park Committee, reporting for the Parks
said they were working on the trees and said that he had removed some and would be
doing what they could along this line, and he also wished to call the council's
attention to the row of posts set along the road on top of Skinner's Butte
Park. He said these posts were set in cement and they should be able to keep
the cars from driving onto the lawn and to keep the cars from getting too close to
the bank. He said that as soon as the weathsr cleared up these posts would be paint d.
He also recormnended that some signs be painted and placed in the parks at different
places, requesting all individuals and parties to keep the parks as clean as
possible and not to scatter rubbish. He said some additional pipe had been bought
for the sprinkling system for the Skinner Butte lawn and later on they would be
doing work on the Park roadway.
Councilman Pennipgton reported that the Sewer Committee had received a
request from the University of Oregon asking the city to furnish sewer pipe for a
sewer line extending from the new library building down Kincaid Street to 11th
Street. He reported that the University of Oregon had a vVPA project signed up
for this work but the Board of Controls had cut the amount of appropriation from
the legislature and the funds on hand were not sufficient for the University of
Oregon to furnish this pipe. Councilman Pennington reported the Sewer Cormnittee
had met with a committee fromtheUniversity of Oregon Committee, and the cost
of this sewer pipe would be between $1500 and $1800. He pointed out that there vas
only about $5000 in the Emergency Fund and the Committee would not feel like making
a recommendation at this time to take the money out of that fund. Upon motion
made and seconded the request for this pipe was denied because the council did not
feel they had sufficient funds for this work.

Councilman Bond, Chairman of the Police Committee, requested that smp
signs be placed at the foot of the hill at 22nd and Columbia Streemto stop
the traffic going north at this intersection. He pointed out that there had been
a good many accidents at this point and that Councilman Hawn had suggested that
