<br /> i Councilman Farrington at this time stated that there should be some time
<br /> i
<br /> limit placed on property offers. That a time limit,for accepting of the offers
<br /> I made by the council should not be more than 5 to 7 days. A motion was nmde by
<br /> 30i Koppe and seconded by Barette that the 7 days be the maximum for accepting of
<br /> the Councils offers and that this time limit sgould be stated in-the -letters that
<br /> , were sent out. On vote this motion was carried. . . I
<br /> Departmental reports for October for the Police Department, City Engineers
<br /> 311 Eugene Public Library, and the Police Matron were ordered placed on file.

<br /> . The Recorder reported a total of 36 RoomingGHauses licenses for the year
<br /> 32 1944~~"total amount of fees collected was $230.00. There were 79 Restaurant
<br /> I licenses issued for the year 1944-1945, seven still unpaid, with a total amount
<br /> of $986.00 collected as fees. ..
<br /> The following letter was received from the 'Board of Appeals:
<br /> 33: "The Board of Appeals has received a request from the Nagel Lumber Co., asking
<br /> for a.permit to extend-the present lumber shed 54 feet to the north to store
<br /> I additional dry lumber and insulating material. This is a light industrial use

<br /> I in.a limited business. On June 24, -1935, the council granted a special permit
<br /> I to H. A. Soults to erect an addition to this plant. The Board recommends .that
<br /> the request be granted. " I
<br /> On motion made, seconded and carried the recommendation of the Board was acceptea.
<br /> . .,' Q.urb cut requests. for Oregon Electric Railway, 472 Pearl Street, -18 foot
<br /> cut; ~ohn Behrens, 1649 Moss Street, 12 foot cut and A. W. Cornutt, 639 East
<br /> 34 ' Broadway, 12 foot cut was approved as recoinmended by the.Engineer. The request
<br /> of the Lane Hotel, 488 Willamette street, for a 12 foot cut was held over at
<br /> the recommendation of the City Engineer.

<br /> A request from D. L. Lewis of the University of Oregon. asking that
<br /> 36 G. S. Tomkins be deputized as a watchman at the University and asked that Kenna
<br /> B. Cox be reappointed which service expires December 1, 1944. On motion made,
<br /> seconded arid carried the request was granted.
<br /> A request from W. A. Cummbings, manager of the Oregon Hotel, requesting
<br /> change in the zoning of lot 1, and 2, block 30, Driverton Addition was referred
<br /> 37 , to the Planning Commis.sion.
<br /> A request from Mr. and Mrs. Lee L. Minkler for the extention of a sewer
<br /> to serve lot 11, block 22, College Hill Park and a like request from Mr. and Mrs.
<br /> D. W. Barker and Ruby Goodrich for lots 3, 4, 5, 6, block 22, College Hill Park
<br /> was referred to the Sewer Committee.
<br /> A letter from Leut. Max O. Green making an application for the-operation
<br /> 38 or the Eugene Airport when flying is resumed on the west coast was read at this
<br /> time and ordered placed on file.
<br /> A communique from Dr. E.D. Furrer in which he stated that he has lost I
<br /> three, $55.00 warrants received from the City of Eugene and asking tha~ the City
<br /> issue duplicate warrants for these was-read. A statement signed by E.D. Furrer
<br /> 39 and B. Strausmaier, Surety, was presented. A motion was made by Bailey and
<br /> seconded by Hawn and carried that the request for the duplicate warrants be
<br /> granted.
