Waller on operations of the Eugene Armory, showing receipts and disbursements for period 1941-44, was submitted and on motion ordered received and placed on file. An additional payment of $50.00 from the Oregon Motor Stages covering payment on 13 buses and bringing a total franchise payment of 1944, $325.00 Remittanoe of $60,047.55 was made by Lane County for City's share of tax collections. On the basi~ of the current roll, 89.5% of total; including back taxes, 95.4% of current roll. '~"j .- "'li;.' All payments to the City from contracting Industrial firms and fire districts are up to date. Letters have been mailed to City fuel dealers relative to scattering of sawdust on streets. r After some regress, Lane County has mailed two checks covering payment of the past costs of Comfort Station maintenence, up to January 1, 1945. The question of future payments between now and end of fiscal year should be given attention in view of the County's. intention that the City should pay! of the monthly salary of $60.00 paid, by the County to the station care-taker. In the matter of ~yment by Lane County of ! of Comfort Station maintenence charges, the City Manager was directed to consult with County Court relative to distribution of charges between City and County after January 1, 1945. Ordinance amending Ordinance 8514, granting franchise to the Oregon Eleotric Railway Co. was submitted for consideration. Upon motion was given final reading and passed on ro~l call, all councilmen present voting AYE, absent Hurley. The ordinance was declared passed and numbered 8805. An ordinance to improve Jefferson street from 19th avenue to 24th avenue by grading and gravelling the same, was read the first time and passed to its second and third readings by unanimous conseny of the coun~il by title under suspension of the rules and was placed for fina] passage. Councilmen voting AYE, Koppe, Allen, Hawn, Bailey, Crumbaker, Davis, Johnson, absent Hurley. The ordinance was declared passed and numbered 8806. An ordinance to vacate Maple avenue from the south line of 15th avenue to the south line of Plat of Victoria Heights, was presented. Upon motion made, seconded and carried was ordered read the first time and passed to its ,second and third readings by unanimous consent of the Council by title under suspension of the rules and was placed for final passage. All Councilmen present voting AYE, absent Hurley. The ordinance ,vas declared passed and numbered 8810. An ordinance amending Ordinance No. 8413, rezoning Block l~ Westmoreland Addition was read and upon motion was given first reading and laid over. A resolution r.elative to opening streets, Garfield et aI, was read and upon motion was adopted: RESOLUTION WHEREAS~ the Common Council of the City of Eugene deems it expedient to open, layout~ and establish the following streets and pnrtions o~ streets. Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Eugene, that the City Engineer be and he is Heret hSDeby directed to make a survey of the following streets and portions of streets, to-wit: Garfield street from the south line of Seventh Avenue West, sout to the north line of State Highway right of way Garfield street from the North line of 14th avenue west to the north line of 18th avenue west Grant Street from the south line of the alley located between sixth avenue and Seventh avenue west, to the north line of West Broadway. Eighth Avenue west from the west line of Chronbers street to Garfield Street ~
