Motion carried. <br /> <br />The following report was submitted by the City Manager: <br /> <br />"At your last regulat meeting, the Council went on record to the effect <br />that the NYA buildings at Skinner's Butte Park be converted to housing facili- <br />ties for returning G. I. students. During the past month this office cooper- <br />ated with the University of Oregon in making a survey of these buildings, with <br />the thought that'they might be made a part of the University Housing project; <br />however, on May 9th this office was advised by the University that the NYA <br />Center would not be included in the school's housing plans. <br /> <br />In the meantime, officials o~ the Federal Public Housing Authority have <br />evidence a great deal of interest in securing a lease on the building for con- <br />version to low cost publIc hOUSing and two representa ti ves-pf,.-fPHA have cont- <br />acted the Masagers office seeking a committment on the p~~t ~ff 'the City to such <br />~ project. Motion carried. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS: <br /> <br />The following report of the Board of Appeals was submitted and read: <br /> <br />"A meeting of the Board of Appeals was held in the office of the City <br />Engineer Wednesday, May 9th, at 5:00 P.M. <br /> <br />A request was receiveQ from Mr. and Mrs. G. N. Allenbaugh aSking for a <br />waiver of "set-back" on the lot at the Southwest corner of the intersection of <br />25th Avenue and Chula Vista Street. The Board recommend~ that the request be <br />denied. <br /> <br />A request was received from Fred A. Williams for an approval ,for a permit <br />on the east half of his lot at the Southwest corner of the intersection of Oak <br />street and 20th avenue. This is a very narrow lot and the proposed house would <br />exceed the "set-back" and lot coverage regulations. The Board recommends that <br />this reque~t be denied. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />A request was received from Lee E. Ellis asking for a permit to convert .1 <br />the large house at 212 Pearl Street into six apartments. The Boord is holding <br />this request 'for plans. <br /> <br />A request was received from Pietro LaCalsi asking for a permit to convert <br />an old house at 198 Lawrence Street into a duplex residence. The Board recom- <br />mends that 'this request be approved. <br />I <br />A request was received from C. F. Wright asking a waiver of "set-back" I <br />on the lot at the northeast corner of the intersection of 18th and Mill Streets. I <br />He is desirous of moving the house from 1118 Nigh street to "this location. The I <br />~oard recommenqs that this request be denied. <br /> <br />The University of Oregon, by Orlando J. Hollis,' Acting President, is <br />~sking permission to construct a gr.o~p of ~mal+ apa~tments on the east half of <br />lots 5 and 6 and all of lots 7, 8, ahd 9, block 4, University Addition to <br />;' ~ugene, These lot~ are located on the east:side of Beech Street between 13th <br />and Franklin ~lvd, and on 13th, sixty feet east of Beech Street.
